I’m still trying to take it all in, the words won’t really come yet…
Mendocino, how could I know how much you would charm me? So much so that I joined Pacific Textile Arts so I would know part of me was still there.
Pacific, how could I know I you would make me realize how much I miss the sightsoundsmell of the ocean?
Silvia Heyden, how could I know your workshop would seem so long, yet much too short, that for me it would be a cerebral weaving experience, not a technical one, that my mind is still reeling with all the possibilities?
When I returned home to the dry, hot, desert, I had received an email from the Grand Canyon Artist-in-Residence program-- there had been a glitch in their online info & my application has actually made it into the final round of judging for a three week residency in 2010… I am daring to hope again. Now I am off to IWC with Janie & Susan with thoughts of Heyden streaming in my brain. Yes, the universe is opening.

Thank you, everyone, for your comments! I'm a little late in responding since I was away at IWC, as you can see by my latest post. The experience of Silvia's workshop was difficult to express in words, but from your reactions I guess I did ok in my efforts. I wish you all could have been there, it was extraordinary!

Hi Lyn. I enjoyed reading your blog essay. What a fantastic workshop! I was reminded of all the colour exercises in Itten's book, I did many of them as well as lots form The Art of Colour, which is the most beautiful, but sadly exensive book.Debbie.

I'm so excited for you - WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! I was attracted to her book immediately when introduced to tapestry because she is a violinist. It seemed to right to be a fan of one who combines music and weaving. I had no idea the depth of the combination until I read the book. Her talent seems independent of both the violin and the weaving. I love it! Looking forward to seeing what you do with it!

loved all the beautiful photos. I have serious camera skill envy, as well as totally green over your week in California, I had forgotten the allure of the California coast. What a wonderful week
