Thanks, Annie... yes just a couple more feet to go now! Even though that sounds like a lot, compared to the first 7 feet it's just sky & feathers!

Hi Lyn, It's looking great. I've missed a couple of weeks, so I'm sure those final stitches will be coming up soon. Ax

Tommye, spending time with you & Janie was one of the highlights for me... you both have been major influences in my becoming an artist.

Yes, Kathy, it's a lot to hope for (& accomplish). Thank goodness for treadles & my weighted Magpie weaving fork!

Again, thank you everyone for your encouraging words & enthusiasm!

Beautiful, Lyn!
Great to see you and Janie a few weeks ago... just wish it wasn't years between get-togthers!

Two feet in less than a month! You have some long hours of work ahead! Good luck! I look forward to seeing her done.

Fabulous, Lyn!

Thanks, everyone! It was so exciting to advance the warp & see SKY!

Gaelyn, I will be looking forward to seeing you sometime in October... I recently contacted Robin & told her we should plan for delivery then (it will take time to finish the back & prepare it for hanging once it is cut from the loom).

What's next? A little R & R and then I'll be starting the diptych tapestries for Glen Canyon NRA, which will be delivered in spring 2013. Visit this post to learn more about those: http://www.desertsongstudio.com/2012/05/glen-canyon-nra-lees-ferry-artist-residency-week-4-april-2330-2012.html

She is looking most amazing. I have faith you'll get to 9 by the end of August.

Stella

You will be done in next to no time! Just magnificent! What's next?

Merna

It is spectacular, Lyn!

  • I am a tapestry artist & naturalist living in the beautiful Sonoran Desert, an environment of constant inspiration. Within these pages you will find not only a portfolio of my works but also many tales, thoughts, and musings about my journeys in tapestry weaving & life; the two are as closely linked as warp & weft and so should not be separated.

  • Grand Journey
I was the September 2010 Artist-in-Residence at Grand Canyon National Park's North Rim. This is a chronological portfolio of the creation of Grand Journey, a tapestry depicting a life size California Condor in flight over Grand Canyon that the Park requested me to weave. The finished tapestry is approximately 6 feet wide by 10 feet in height. Creation of this piece began in December 2010 and was completed in February 2013. She will go on permanent display at the North Rim's Visitor Center in late summer of 2013. I have the distinct pleasure and honor of being the first contemporary tapestry weaver to be awarded a National Park Artist Residency, and also the first to have my work included in a National Park's permanent art collection!
