Santa Rita prickly pears are decidedly un-cactus-like in hues of red-violet, blue-violet, & bluish-green. Ubiquitous, they create jumbled sprawling masses of paddles that sprawl & shelter many desert creatures. In spring, their hidden beauty is revealed as their luminous greenish-yellow blooms glow.
