at Big Bend

the river talks to me as it tumbles past
over smooth pebbles, rocks & boulders
a queen butterfly floats past
a raven circles lazily overhead
spiraling up the face of the Organ
squawking just to hear its own voice
the river talks to me
loud enough that I barely hear the shuttles rumbling past
could almost think the Canyon
is mine alone
but this is Zion
and everyone
has come for sanctuary
